Senate Republican Leaders Issue Statement on Recent Shootings in Albuquerque


SANTA FE—Today, local media reported that the homes and office of four Albuquerque elected officials were shot at in the last two months. The most recent shootings occurred at the home of Senator Linda Lopez two days ago and at Senator Moe Maestas' office this morning.

Senate Republican Leader, Senator Greg Baca (District 29-Belen), Senate Republican Whip, Senator Craig Brandt (District 40-Rio Rancho), and Senate Republican Caucus Chair, Senator Mark Moores (District 21-Albuquerque) issued the following joint statement regarding the news:

"We are incredibly grateful that our Senate colleagues, their families, and the other victims are uninjured. The Albuquerque Police Department, New Mexico State Police, and the FBI have launched an investigation and we eagerly await the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator.”
