Senate Republican Veterans Release Statement Regarding Terrorist Attack on U.S. Military and Civilians in Kabul
SANTA FE – Today, the tragic situation in Afghanistan went from bad to worse as suicide bombers took the lives of at least 60 people at the Kabul Airport, including 12 U.S. service members. This is a continuing and developing story as the United States withdrawals from Afghanistan. Since the announced pullout, the Taliban has taken the country by storm. Thousands of Afghani allies and their families who aided American defense efforts are now facing death, while thousands of Americans still remain in the country seeking evacuation.
Following today’s terrorist attack, Senator Greg Baca (Veteran, U.S. Navy), Senator Craig Brandt (Veteran, U.S. Air Force) and Senator William Sharer (Veteran, U.S. Army) issued the following statement:
“The tragic loss of American lives today is beyond infuriating. The ongoing and avoidable carnage in Afghanistan will forever brand our nation in the eyes of the world. Under this national ‘leadership,’ evil has been allowed to prosper in what can only be described as an act of profound ignorance and disgraceful cowardice. Our prayers are with the families of our fallen patriots. May they rest in peace.”
