Senator Bill Burt Delivers for District 33
SANTA FE — The 2023 Legislative Session adjourned sine die at noon Saturday. During the Session, Senator Bill Burt (R-Alamogordo) delivered some major victories for his district and the people of New Mexico.
“I am incredibly proud to serve the people of District 33 and deliver on their priorities,” said Senator Burt. “Despite my caucus being in a 15-seat minority in the Senate, we delivered major victories to keep Otero County moving forward.”
This session, major victories spearheaded by Senator Burt included:
Securing a permanent tax break on military retiree income;
Paving the way, along with Senator Ron Griggs (R-Alamogordo), for the expansion of the Alamogordo airport;
Leading the defeat of a bill that would have killed 200 district jobs and a major Otero County investment in the migrant detention facility; and
Joining with the Otero County delegation to deliver nearly $15 million dollars on essential infrastructure.
“Thank you to every constituent who reached out and participated in this legislative process. I work for you and I am proud to be your voice here in Santa Fe," added Senator Burt.
