Senator Cliff Pirtle Applauds Senate Passage of Senate Bill 232

Legislation will ensure timely reimbursements for medical providers

SANTA FE – The Senate today passed Senate Bill 232, sponsored by Senator Cliff Pirtle (R-Roswell), with unanimous support. The bill amends statutes regarding credentialing of health care providers and establishes a timeline by which a provider must be paid for their services.

Senator Pirtle released the following statement applauding the passage of the bill:

“I thank my colleagues for recognizing the importance of this legislation. Slow provider credentialing and reimbursements by insurance carriers are contributing to our growing shortage of primary care physicians, other medical providers, and specialists. This bill seeks to address the issue by ensuring timely payments to providers for services rendered.”

Senate Bill 232 will now be sent to the House of Representatives.
