Senator Cliff Pirtle Releases Statement Regarding PED Overreach and Local Control
SANTA FE — Ahead of a scheduled meeting of the Roswell Independent School District Board, Senator Cliff Pirtle (District 32-Chaves, Eddy, and Otero) today released the following statement:
“The Governor and the Secretary of the Public Education Department have proven themselves to be no better than schoolyard bullies. The time comes when the bullying must stop, and that time is now. We cannot sit idly by while our school districts are picked on and forced to do things that do not represent the best interests of the children they serve and the parents who elected them. I urge the School Board to take action this evening and send a clear message to the Governor that we will not be shoved around in Roswell. We are the people. We are the parents. And we know what is best for our children.”
