Senator Crystal Diamond Responds to Governor’s Abortion Executive Order
EO ignores healthcare crisis, establishes New Mexico as abortion tourism destination
SANTA FE – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham today signed an Executive Order encouraging abortion access in New Mexico for anyone in North America.
Senator Crystal Diamond (District 35-Elephant Butte) released the following statement:
"Once again, the Governor is making it clear that she is always willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of New Mexico to advance her own political career. By using her executive order pen today, she is ignoring the tidal wave of issues our healthcare system is facing under her watch. Thousands will now flock to our state for abortions at a time when we are already struggling to provide care to those who need it most. It is time for the Governor to stop pandering to donors and out of state interests, and put the needs of New Mexicans first."
Recent reports have shown New Mexico's healthcare system is struggling and facing massive workforce shortages and prolonged waiting periods to receive care.
